Schoolmates experiencing Health Issues

Louise McClelland

8/7/08

My wife Louise underwent double bypass surgery on Monday July 28.  She has progressed very well...coming home Thursday July 31 and is gaining strength every day.  The surgeon and the cardiologist say she should have a full recovery.

My thanks to all for your thoughts and prayers.  Both of us are most appreciative.

John Nowell

7/6  Helen talked with John Nowell on the phone one day last week. He is home and he and Joan both sounded very positive about his recovery progress. We had a lengthy conversation and he sounded much like the same Johnny Nowell we all knew before the health problems. He still has some recovery time which includes home health care, because they are still removing some fluid from his body which involves a pump, etc.

6/19  Thom spoke with Joan Nowell today and received a real encouraging report.  John is recovering nicely and they think early next week he will be released from the hospital to return home.

6/18  As you may have noticed John Nowell missed his first class reunion.  We learned that John has been experiencing more heart problems. On 6/14 Thom received a call from Joan who indicated that surgery was a success.  He will be in the St. Louis hospital several days but the heart valve and artery issues were repaired.

It is unknown when John will be back home but we're sure he would appreciate having some cards or emails waiting for him.

Jim Keen

7/7 Just a note to let you know that Dick and I and one of my cousins visited Jimmy in Pryor, OK last Thursday.  He is doing all that he can under his circumstances. He was very happy to see us and wants everyone to know that he enjoys hearing from his classmates and the funny jokes.  Although he is a bit frail, he continues to enjoy talking about horses, rodeos and friends, and is still one of the best in remembering horse pedigrees.  Mention a registered quarter horse and he starts telling you whose who's. I send him horse and rodeo magazines frequently and he loves to read them. Please keep sending him notes and cards. I took the group reunion photo to him and he pointed out to me who he recognized so he enjoyed that, too.

6/7 We have also learned that Jimmy is experiencing some issues and would greatly appreciate receiving a note or card of encouragement from his classmates and friends.

Cecil Warren '55

7/12  Paul talked with Cecil today and he is feeling good  and may be able to go home tomorrow (Sunday).  They had him up and walking the day after surgery.  Doctors told him he was very lucky.  We feel very fortunate that he is doing so well and want to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers.  Know he would love to hear from his classmates.  Thanks again to all.
