Jody (McBroom) Tapp Update

July 15, 2006

Sadly we report that classmate Jody (McBroom) Tapp passed away Saturday 7/15/06 with her family by her side. While we are saddened by her passing there is comfort in knowing that her pain and suffering are over, and for that we are thankful. Check back for more information as it is available.

June 12, 2006

I just talked with Jody's daughter and the situation is about the same as last report only more so. She sleeps more, needs more morphine for pain at times, but is still alert. She received the book and card and they (her children and grandchildren) have read both with her and they have looked at the picture and they say they recognize most of us. Her son, Alan, was there over the weekend and they apparently turn Jody in the bed at night and visit with her at that time. They feel very fortunate to have that special time with her. Great kids!!!!

Thank you for not giving up on us and for being so patient. I am so sorry that I have missed your phone calls. Betti Jo came down over the weekend to help me with mother, and we moved mother back to her house, that is where she wanted to be in the end. She is in renal failure since a week ago Tuesday, she still remains fighting every day. I truly cannot tell you all in Missouri and throughout what your cards and e-mails have meant to her and to our family. I continue to print the messages everyday and read them to her. You are truly blessed and wonderful people to keep mother and her family in your prayers. Mother would love to talk with anyone willing to phone her, I will be honest, it can be difficult to understand her at times, but she will know who you are. I won't have you change to address in which to send cards, I know it can be confusing, but if anyone would like to call and talk to mother or one of us, please do not hesitate to call, 505-887-7635 or 505-885-2198. Like I have said before, we feel like we know you all personally too, from Mother's yearbook, and reunion book. When e-mailing mother, if you could please put your name on the e-mail that would be helpful, all I receive is the e-mail address, and not from whom the email is from. I would like to reply back, but I am not sure to whom I am replying too. Thank you all for being so kind and loving to our Mother and our family, we know how much you mean to her also. You lift us up everyday with your cards, emails and prayers. We love you all.

May 8, 2006

I have talked with her daughter and Jody was in the hospital last week. The cancer has spread and is now in the abdomen plus another new one near her heart which is causing fluid buildup and pressure on her heart. All the previous tumors have grown. She is in hospice and will not have any surgery. The doctors said it would just come back. All they are trying to do is control the pain.

However, she was released from the hospital Thursday evening and had her son-in-law push her in a wheel chair in The Relay for Life. (It was very important to her to do this) Then she went to a softball game! (The last one of the season).

Her daughter recognizes our names because they have been through the Spectator so many times. She (the daughter) can put names with faces. That is why I thought the book would mean so much to Jody and her family now. They have seen the web page and were very pleased to see the two pictures of Jody.

Jody (McBroom) Tapp Update

April 29, 2006

Jody can no longer drive and Betty Jo is staying with her until next week and then Jody will be staying with Carol Ann because they do not want her to be alone. Carol Ann says Jody is doing okay, but not great. She is experiencing pain, but she said her mother is doing what she is doing for her grandchildren and that is what keeps her going. Betty Jo also said Jody is so appreciative and excited to get a card or phone call from her old friends.

I asked her if there was anything we could put on the web page and she said "Yes, Please tell everyone that her kids thank them from the bottom of their hearts for the cards and telephone calls, because they mean so much to their mother."

Also, beginning next week May 1 Jody can be called at Carol Ann's phone number 505-885-2198. She asked for everyone to keep sending cards and to call because it meant so much to Jody.

Jody (McBroom) Tapp Update

January 16, 2006

After several years of treatment for sarcoma cancer on her leg, Jody Tapp has discovered within the past few months that the cancer has spread. She has received chemo and radiation treatment, but the tumors are growing in size and increasing in number. She is very grateful for those of you who have been including her in your prayers and would like to hear from any or all of her classmates via cards or telephone.

Jody's birthday is February 8, so a shower of birthday cards would be great.

Carolyn Thomas has talked with Jody Tapp who indicated that tumors in her lungs are shrinking in size with continuing treatment. We have learned that Jody (McBroom) Tapp LHS class of ’56 last fall was diagnosed again with cancer in her leg. At some later point in time she was told there was a mass in her lungs and she is now receiving chemotherapy for that. Cards, letters and/or phone calls would be welcome. Her address is:
