Craig Cockrell and Pastor Dave Rogers, Chaplain of Home Care Connection, officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery. Arrangements are by West Funeral Home

Mrs. Tapp died Saturday, July 15, 2006 in Carlsbad.

Joann "Jodi" Tapp was born February 8, 1938 in Boonville, Missouri to Lawrence Leo and Geneva May (Evans) McBroom. Her family moved to Liberty, Missouri when Joann was nine years old and she graduated from high school there in 1956. She married Harold Tapp on November 3, 1957 in Liberty. They lived in Midland from 1960 to 1972, at which time they moved to Carlsbad.

Jodi loved life, her family and friends. She enjoyed working as postmaster at the White's City Post Office for 30 years. During this time, she never met a stranger and was always happy to see someone from Missouri.

In 1991, she was the oldest woman to receive certification for the Ropes/Challenge Course at Washington Ranch. She was very proud of the fact that she successfully hiked seven of the high points in America.

Throughout her life, Jodi was an avid bowler. She said she would "rather bowl than eat." Baking for her family and friends brought true pleasure to her life. There were many days she had a cake in the oven before she went to work.

Grandma Jodi would put aside anything to watch her grandkids participate in track, basketball, or equestrian riding. She would drive to Alamogordo or Dallas, it didn't matter, and local softball had a regular seat reserved. Cavegirl softball has lost one of its biggest fans.

Through her illness, our Mother received the greatest of care from her nurses at Homecare Connection. Our thanks to them.

She was preceded in death by her father and one brother, Larry McBroom.

She is survived by one son, Alan Tapp and wife Revelle of Nara Visa, N.M.; three daughters, Carol Baldridge and husband Robert of Carlsbad, Betti Jo Weber and husband Joe of Gainesville, Texas and Kathy Castaneda and husband Henry of Carlsbad; mother of Liberty, MO; two brothers, Lawrence McBroom and wife Brenda and Ronnie McBroom and wife Jo, all of Missouri; two sisters, Shirley Shook and husband Ed and Martha Husted and husband Rex, both of Clinton, Missouri; 13 grandchildren, Jennifer Tapp, David Alan Tapp, both of Amarillo, TX, Amanda Tapp of Carlsbad, Clint Baldridge of Roy, Utah, Sarah Baldridge of Carlsbad, Luke Weber, Hannah Weber, Sam Weber, and Rachel Weber, all of Gainesville, Texas, Rory Castaneda, Katie Jo Castaneda, Ashley Castaneda, and Jacob Castaneda all of Carlsbad; and five great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The American Cancer Society, 1599 Clifton Rd. NE, Atlanta, GA 30329 or The Carlsbad Foundation, 116 S. Canyon, Carlsbad, New Mexico, 88220.
