Elaine Hicks was born in Neodesha, KS on May 19, 1937. Her parents, Carl and Jean Hicks lovingly adopted her at a very early age. She grew up in Liberty, MO, attended William Jewell University and married her high school sweetheart Jay (John K.) Lonborg on January 25, 1958.

Elaine was an elementary school secretary for many years in the Richardson school district. She was a member of NOW, a group of retired educators. Elaine and Jay were faithful members of Park Cities Baptist Church serving as Sunday School Directors of the Newly Wed department in the 70’s and 80’s. She helped in the Clothes Closet at PCBC, attended Bible studies and Sunday School classes, most recently the Legacy Class. She was an avid reader and an active member of Variety Book Club. Elaine had the gift of encouragement and penmanship, sending handwritten notes to many people. She was a faithful friend to many.

Elaine is survived by her son, two daughters, daughter-in-law and two sons-in-laws as well as six grandchildren, two grandsons-in-laws and six great grandchildren. Her son Kris married to Kathy; daughter Mattie and son Mason. Her daughter Kari is married to Stephen Haywood; their daughter Jena is married to David Pendleton, and daughter Britney is married to Grady Cook. Her daughter Karla is married to Denny Boles; daughter Lily and son Nick.

Elaine is also survived by her brother Leon Hicks, half-sister Beulah McDowell and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and wonderful friends.

Elaine Hicks Lonborg died peacefully at her home on April 26, 2022. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday May 25, at 2:00 pm in Ellis Chapel at Park Cities Baptist Church. Visitation will be Tuesday May 24, at 6:00-8:00 pm at Restland Funeral Home & Memorial Park
