Joanne Cox Renz, 76, of Platte City, MO passed away Sunday, September 12, 2010 at North Kansas City Hospital. A visitation will be 6:30-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at Rollins Funeral Home in Platte City. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, September 16, at the United Methodist Church of Platte City, 14040 N Hwy. Interment will follow in the Platte City Cemetery. The family suggests contributions be given to the American Cancer Society , or the United Methodist Church of Platte City. Joanne was born May 26, 1934, in Liberty, MO to Orville Leslie and Goldeth Peggy (Stevenson) Cox. She was a 1952 graduate of the Liberty High School, and 1956 graduate of MU, with a Bachelor's in Education and Business. Joanne married Tommy Renz on June 1, 1963, in Liberty. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Platte City. Joanne worked with her father over twenty five years as an order buyer at the Kansas City Stockyards. She then worked as Clerk for City Hall in Platte City. Joanne was also a member of the Platte City Study Club, enjoyed china painting, and was a member of the "Do Nothing Group" of Platte City, and loved doll making with a group of her friends in Weston, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents. Joanne is survived by: her husband, Tommy Renz of the home; her daughters, Janet and Peggy Renz, both of Platte City; and her two grandsons, Jake and Luke Hodson, also of Platte City.
