Lawrence E. "Mac" McBroom, 75, of Clinton, Missouri, formerly of Kansas City, Mo., died Thursday, December 1, 2011 at the Golden Living Center-Westwood in Clinton. He was born March 24, 1936 in Boonville, Mo., the son of Lawrence Leo McBroom and Geneva Mae (Evans) McBroom.

Lawrence married Brenda Ann Harrington on February 3, 1960 in Liberty, Mo. She preceded him in death on December 27, 2010.

He worked in the concrete industry all of his adult life retiring from Fordyce Concrete after twenty years of service. He was a member of Local 101, Operating Engineers in Kansas City, Mo. While raising his children he was active and coached in the youth sports in the Kansas City, Mo., area. Lawrence was a veteran of the United States Navy.

Surviving are a son, Brent McBroom and his wife Jennifer of Liberty, Mo.; two daughters, Julii A. Plumlee and her husband Russ of Clinton, Mo., and Shelley Griffey and her husband David of Kansas City, Mo.; six grandchildren, Paul Wrigley, Justin Griffey, Jon Griffey, Kyle Jessip, Lane McBroom, and Maci McBroom; one great-grandson, Zach Wrigley; a brother, Ronnie McBroom and his wife Jo of Kansas City, Mo.; two sisters, Shirley Shook and her husband Ed of Racket, Mo., and Martha Husted and her husband Rex of Kansas City, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Larry McBroom, and a sister Jody Tapp.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 4, 2011 at the Bradley & Hadley Funeral Home, Clinton. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Sunday, just prior to the funeral service. Friends may call from noon to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Good Hope Cemetery, east of Clinton, Mo. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Association. These donations may be left in care of the funeral home.
