Mary Anne (Durie) Crain 72, of Bartlesville died 11:00 a.m. April 18, 2005 at her residence after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Memorial services are scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the East Cross United Methodist Church with Rev. Ashley Green-Young officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Walker-Brown Funeral Home. Mary Anne was born May 27, 1932 in Raton, New Mexico to Ralph Christie and Grace (Pitts) Durie. She married Ronald D. Crain March 29, 1953 in Liberty, MO. Mary Anne graduated from William Jewell College in Liberty, MO. with a degree in education in 1953. She served on the Board of Mutual, volunteered her time with Concern and Tuesday House in Bartlesville, and the Reach to Recovery Cancer Support Group in Lawrence, KS. Mary Anne was a member of East Cross United Methodist Church in Bartlesville where she liked to sing in the Church Choir. She was the Past President for the United Methodist Women (UMW). She was a very proactive individual. Mary Anne was the past President of the League of Women Voters in Lake Charles, LA, where she focused on voting rights for Women and Minorities. Mary Anne's main focus in life was children. She taught in Elementary Schools for 35 years. Most recently she taught 5th grade at Wesleyan Christian School for 14 years and prior to that she taught at the Kennedy grade school in Lawrence, Kansas for 13 years. She is survived by her husband Ronald of the home, one son, Randy Crain of Olathe, KS, three daughters, Kerrin and her husband Carl Kirkpatrick of Urbana, IA, Cindy and her husband Dr. Dan Myers of Parsons, KS, and Dee Anne and her husband Mark Roush of Joplin, MO, one brother, Dr. Robert Durie and his wife Pat of Prairie Village, KS, one sister, Ruth and her husband Norman Clouse of Norwalk, CT, sixteen grandchildren, and life long friends, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Don and Melba Crain. Mary Anne was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Grace Durie.
