
OPAL ALICE SCHOWENGERDT Opal Alice Schowengerdt of Overland Park, KS, formerly of Columbia, MO, passed away February 28, 2002, at Villa St. Joseph Health Care Center, Overland Park, KS. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday, March 22, at Memorial Funeral Home, Columbia, MO. Burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation 12noon-1 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Villa St. Joseph, 11901 Rosewood, Overland Park, KS 66209. Mrs. Schowengerdt was born June 26, 1909 in Independence, MO, to the late Charles William and Lucinda Beebe. She was married to Raymond W. Schowengerdt for 67 years. He preceded her in death. She lived most of her life in Independence, Liberty and Columbia, MO. After many years as a wife and mother to her family, including significant involvement in school and church youth activities, she embarked upon a career in real estate. She was elected Director of the Missouri Real Estate Association and Secretary/Treasurer of the Missouri State Chapter of Women's Council, National Association of Real Estate Boards. She was Real Estate Salesperson of the Year in Columbia for the year of 1970 and was president of the Women's Council of the National Association of Real Estate Boards. In addition, she was president of the Senior Citizens Organization in Columbia. She is survived by sons, Charles William Schowengerdt of Oakland, CA and Donald Eugene Schowengerdt and wife, Sharon of Leawood, KS; grandsons, Bruce Emerson Schowengerdt and wife, Sally of Colorado Springs, CO and Bradly Dean Schowengerdt and wife, Ann of Whitewater, KS; and great-grandchildren, Grant, Molly, Kelly and Tyler Schowengerdt. Also preceded in death by brother, Ralph Beebe.
