Ruth Huntington Lightburne, 92, of Liberty, MO, died Wednesday, August 4, 2004, at her home. Her husband for over 61 years was Alvan Lightburne; Ruth's parents were Claude and Elizabeth Huntington of Liberty and sister was Nancy Aquilina of Florida, with all four preceding her in death. Surviving Ruth was a loving family with daughters Shirlee Beth Christian of Kansas City and Karen Dye and her husband Gladden of Clinton. Beth's husband Tom Christian preceded Ruth in death. Also six special grandchildren and spouses: Debbie and Bob Cremer, Kansas City North, Cathy and Brian Randle, Pleasant Hill, Mike and Jana Dye, Liberty, John and Rhonda Dye, Buckner, Joseph Christian, Greenwood and Tom G. Christian, Grandview. Ten treasured great-grandchildren are Joshua, Melissa and Christina Cremer, Jonathan and Jacob Randle, Megan and Matt Dye, Heather and Brad Dye, all of Missouri and Stephen Christian of Idaho. Except for a short time living at Polo, MO, Ruth lived her full life at Liberty from birth to her death. She was born on September 11, 1911, graduated from Liberty High School, attended William Jewell College for one year, and then Dickenson's Secretarial School in Kansas City. She was a member of the Liberty Christian Church for nearly 65 years. On January 27, 1934 she married Alvan R. Lightburne and they happily raised their two daughters in Liberty. Ruth was a caring and busy homemaker and wife, who also found time for reading, crossword puzzles, shopping and her Bridge Club. She and her family enjoyed and loved one another. Ruth will be greatly missed by her friends, neighbors and family. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, August 9, at Church-ArcherPasley Funeral Home, 119 E. Franklin St., Liberty, MO.
