
Theda Evelyn Summers Gabbert of Pleasant Valley, MO, passed away December 22, 2003. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, December 27, 2003, at Church-Archer-Pasley Funeral Home, Liberty, MO; burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Gladstone, MO. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday, December 26, at the funeral home. An Eastern Star Service will be at 7 p.m. Theda was born January 16, 1918, in Weldon, IL, to Kenneth Fleet and Martha Mildred Collier Summers. She married Clarence "Tom" Gabbert on June 6, 1934, in Jewett, IL. The service was conducted in a Maple Grove by Theda's grandfather, Reverend James P. Collier. Theda lived in Pleasant Valley since 1937. She belonged to the Eastern Star, Huguenot Society of Missouri, 17th Century Dames, Wyckoff Association, Clay County Archives and the Clay County Museum and Historical Society. Theda was an avid genealogist. During WWII, she worked for Pratt & Whitney as a metal lathe operator. After the war, Theda worked for Farmers Insurance and retired as a claims auditor. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tom Gabbert; sons, Thomas "Dean," Jim and Richard "Dick" Gabbert; grandson, Bill Bumgarner; great-grandsons, Joe Brennan and Jason Hall; sisters, Wilma Summers and Dorothy Wilson; brothers, Lyndon "Sonny" Summers and Bill Summers. She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Lou Shotkoski, Plattsmouth, NE, and Carol and Dave Johnson, Liberty, MO; son and daughter-in-law, J.W. and Helen Odom, K.C., MO; sister, Audrey Fitzpatrick, Maryland Heights, MO; brother and sister-inlaw, Barney and Rosa Summers, Camdenton, MO; sister-in-law, Evelyn Summers, Olathe, KS; brother-in-law, Don Wilson, Camdenton, MO; 22 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
