McGinnis, 92, of Kearney, MO, passed away February 18, 2004, at The Village in
Cameron, MO. Visitation will begin at 12noon, followed by funeral service at 1
p.m. Saturday, February 21, at the Chandler Baptist Church, located at the
intersections of 33 and 69 Highways, north of Liberty, MO. Burial in White
Chapel Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial
contributions to the Chandler
Baptist Church or to the Chillicothe 4H and FFA Fair Livestock Exhibit. Walter
Wallace McGinnis was born on July 15,
1911
in rural Kearney, MO
and lived in the Chandler community all his life. Following graduation from
Liberty High School in 1929, he was a farmer and cattleman for his entire
career. He was united in holy matrimony to Amelia Ann Miller on December 22,
1940, a marriage that would span 63 years. He was a member of the Clay County
School Board from 1948 to 1961. He was a longtime member of the Clay County
Cattleman's Association. He helped to establish the Earnest Shepherd Youth
Center in Liberty. Wallace served on the ASCS Clay County Committee for 25
years. He was a member of Chandler Baptist Church. Wallace was preceded in death
by his parents, Walter Wood and Carrie Maude (Jackson) McGinnis; and two
sisters, Francis Mortimer and Irma Mulkey. Survivors include his wife, Amelia;
son and daughter-in-law, Wally and Sandra McGinnis, Chillicothe, MO; his
daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Joe Dake, Gladstone, MO; five
grandchildren, Cassandra McGinnis, Joann Lacy, Carrie Cooper, Julie Dake Abel
and Jarrod McGinnis; one greatgranddaughter, Ingrid McGinnis; and a stepgreat-grandson,
